Choosing the Right Transition Bed

Choosing the right bed to transition your toddler from a crib can be a difficult task.  There are many worries associated with the transition such as your child’s fear of change, falling out of bed at night, getting wedged between the wall and bed frame and the idea of your child roaming unsupervised in the middle of the night. The transition from crib to a toddler bed or twin bed can be made easier by choosing the right bed for your toddler.

When to Transition a Toddler

Many parents and doctors seem to agree on one concern about transitioning your child from a crib: don’t force it.   If your little one sleeps well in his crib and is happy and content then leave them in the crib.  However, if your child is climbing their crib rails and jumping out, then it is probably time to make the transition.

Most toddlers transition from a crib around the ages of 18 months to 36 months.  Once a child transitions they will have new freedoms to roam the house at anytime, unsupervised, so make sure you prepare yourself and his or her surroundings.  In the days before the move you will need to go over the childproofing in the room. You can also invest in a gate. You can put the gate in your child’s doorway and let him know that it is there for his safety. This way his doorwill remain open, but he won’t be entirely free to wander. Once you begin potty training this will need to go, but it may be a good start

Choosing an Incredibed to Help Transition Your Child

Choosing the right bed to transition your toddler from a crib can be a difficult task.  There are many worries associated with the transition such as your child's fear of change, falling out of bed at night, getting wedged in the frame or simply staying in their own bed at night.

How Incredibeds Can Help Transition a Toddler from a Crib

Transitioning your child from a crib to a kids bed is not an overnight process. It can take months to get your child to get used to the switch. You will likely experience a range of reactions from excitement and eagerness to refusal and fear. Be patient with your toddler. If he or she is too upset, it might be too soon and you may have to go back to the crib. They will make the transition at his or her, own pace. Putting the new toddler bed or kids bed in the same place the crib used to be can make things easier, and letting your child use the blankets from his crib, even though they might be too small, may comfort them.
